“A well-designed landscape is one that is not visible from one point of view.  It seeks to engage the visitor, who, becoming so enamored by what they see, smell, & feel, are compelled to explore what is around the corner” - Joseph Hagen

It all began back in 1987 when founder Joseph Hagen had a dream of building beautiful landscapes that had a purpose! So many companies were just selling patios & plants with not much thought for how the project would weather the test of time.  Often, he was called in to remove the existing overgrown plantings because they no longer suited the needs of the client and a redesign was warranted for a new look.  Joseph knew there was a better approach.  Having studied the classic gardens, he took notice of the timelessness of a well-thought-out plan.  He knew that every little detail would need to be assessed at the beginning phase of planning so that it would never outgrow its purpose!

In his first year in business, he was commissioned to landscape an entire island in the Florida Keys.  While Joseph had never landscaped in the tropics before, he welcomed the challenge.  It was this determination to succeed that has driven Earth Art’s success with its customers.  He truly understands that every project is uniquely different and as a result, is custom-designed to fulfill the client’s desires.  While every designer brings their own perspective to the table, not every designer incorporates the client’s vision into the final design.  Joseph has an uncanny knack to really hear the client’s heart in the matter, resulting in a true one-of-a-kind design.  It is this very philosophy that continues to set Earth Art apart from other companies.

A good design seeks to add to the property, but a great design incorporates what cannot be changed with what can be, resulting in a total transformation of the outdoor space.  You know when you have achieved this goal, a well-designed landscape is one that is not visible from one point of view.  It seeks to engage the visitor, who, becoming so enamored by what they see, smell, & feel, are compelled to explore what is around the corner.  You will know when you’ve achieved this as the finished design is not an open book.  It is filled with hidden surprises, secret spaces, & intimate details that are only revealed once you have set your mind down the path of discovery.
